Who can benefit from Broadband4Devon?
You are eligible if you are a pre-start up company, self-employed, run
a small or medium sized business in Devon - employing less
than 250 people. You can be home or office based but will need to have a broadband connection in place first.
Can I get broadband in my area?
All telephone exchanges now have access to broadband however some locations
may still have problems accessing broadband due to their geographical location.
How much does broadband cost?
Broadband is an extremely affordable business tool. As a Devon business,
Broadband4Devon will give you advice on the best service
to suit your business needs.
How do I sign up with Broadband4Devon?
Call 01752 707382 and ask to speak to one of our Account Managers. They
will send you an Information Pack, this contains the Project Participation
Agreement which you will need to sign to officially register with the project
and they will also discuss the broadband service for your business. Once
you are connected to broadband and have returned your PPA we will
call you to arrange for an ICT Advisor to visit you and your business
to provide advice and guidance on your use of the technology.
What if I already have broadband?
If you already have broadband, still call Broadband4Devon. You could
be eligible for independent, expert ICT advice - at no cost
to you.
Can I stay with my existing Internet Service Provider (ISP)?
Yes, you can use your choice of ISP.
Do I have to change my email address?
No, you do not need to change your existing email address.
How else can Broadband4Devon help me?
Broadband4Devon provides independent, free expert advice on how to improve
your business through the use of ICT. We can help you to review your current
technology and plan for the future.
What’s the catch?
There isn’t one! Broadband4Devon is a non-profit making partnership part-funded
by European Union Objective Two and SWERDA and is designed
to help Devon businesses grow through the use of broadband and ICT - we
really are just here to help!
What if I currently have home highway/ISDN?
If you have home highway/ISDN there are many factors that need to be considered,
depending on your particular circumstances. Please contact one of our Account
Managers who will ensure the switch to broadband is as smooth as possible.
I live in a very remote area and still can’t get broadband. What can I do?
Contact Broadband4Devon to let us know and we will try to help.
What if I have a technical problem with my broadband?
If you have a technical problem with your broadband connection the best advice is to contact your ISP immediately to troubleshoot any possible problems that they are aware of. Please note that Broadband4Devon cannot resolve technical issues.
What is the minimum spec PC required to run broadband?
Although most new PCs these days will be more than capable of running a
broadband connection it is worth checking that your machine
is up to the job. Check with your ISP when you order broadband that your
PC is of a suitable spec.
