About Broadband4Devon

Business wealth and success is based on information. This is processed and distributed using technology – hence Information Technology. At Broadband4Devon we help companies look at the flow of information using existing and potential technology, and how their use of hardware and software can be improved to assist business development.

Very few companies have the expertise to do this because they need to concentrate on their own business skills. So, Broadband4Devon provides this specialist knowledge at no cost to businesses.

Devon is benefiting in many ways, including the employment of more than 400 extra people. An independent evaluation of Broadband4Devon in May 2005 estimated that our impact on the net contribution to Devon including sales, relocated businesses, cost savings and productivity is more than £7 million.

There are currently more than 1111,000 broadband connections in Devon, rising at the incredible rate of 5,000 per month. By the end of May this year all the telephone exchanges in the county will have access to broadband. Considering when Broadband4Devon launched in November 2003 very few areas outside the main towns had broadband, this is a fantastic leap forward in the demand for fast Internet access and communications technology.

In addition to assisting thousands of businesses to connect to broadband, we have also encouraged SME's to invest more than £8 million in technology.

Over 6000 Devon companies are now working with Broadband4Devon. Given the skills and expertise available at absolutely no cost to them, it's not surprising.
